Hermes Trismegistus: 580–470 bce, Ionian poet, satirist, philosopher, and theologian, was born in Colophon, a wealthy city of liona. Historical and mythological figures associated with Hermes Trismegistus: Thoth (Egyptian Paganism): Egyptian god of wisdom, learning and communications. He is the scribe of the gods and was believed to have invented language, the alphabet and writing (i.e. hieroglyphs). Hermes Trismegistus (from Ancient Greek: Ἑρμῆς ὁ Τρισμέγιστος, “Hermes the Thrice-Greatest”; Classical Latin: Mercurius ter Maximus) is a legendary Hellenistic figure that originated as a syncretic combination of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth.
